Lotus Evora Type 124 Endurance Racecar
After a decade relying on the respected Elise and its more furious Exige stablemate, historic sportscar marque Lotus is back in the spotlight after unveiling a stunning range of new models. Launching the all-new Evora back in 2008 has clearly given the company a taste for expanding its sportcar offering, as latest plans for a massive expansion in its model line-up have revealed Lotus's bold ambition to take on the supercar big guns and go from niche sportscar maker to supercar class leader in a mere five years.
Lotus's history is peppered with various financial setbacks, and the company seems to flirt with disappearance every few years. But it's only now that we're hearing about just how close the company came to shutting down its excellent - and surely essential - engineering division. It's great to see Lotus gathering much needed strength.
The one thing I've always promised myself would never occur happened last week - I became my dad. Now I love my dad and we get on brilliantly, but he does have a tendency to moan. Whether it's being stuck in a traffic jam, the price of milk or the quality of projection at the cinema, my dad can't resist the odd rant.
